Three of our animation films were selected as contenders for the competition category at the ‘Brussels International Animation Film Festival, ANIMA’.
There are four Korean animation films currently being screened at the 43rd Brussels International Animation Film Festival Anima in Belgium, of which three were selected as “Official selection in competition.”
On the 26th (local time), the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium announced that director Lee Jong-hoon’s ‘Architect A‘ and director Joung Yu-mi’s ‘The Waves‘ were selected as contenders for the ‘International Professional Short Films’ category of this film festival.
According to the Anima website, there are currently 26 animations selected in this category.
In addition, director Jeon Seung-bae’s ‘Battery Mommy‘ was also found to be selected as a competing contender in the ‘International Short Films for A Young Audience’ category.
Currently, there are a total of 17 animations selected in this category.
The Korean Cultural Center in Belgium explained, ‘If one of the works of directors Lee Jong-hoon and Joung Yu-mi is selected as the best film, it could automatically become a candidate for the International Short Animation category at next year’s Oscar Film Festival.’
For reference, the remaining animation is ‘Treasure’ by director Huh Jung-in, which was submitted in the ‘International Short Films for A Young Audience’ category.
The Anima Film Festival, currently being held in Brussels, Belgium, is scheduled to be held from the 23rd of this month to the 3rd of next month, and the Korean Cultural Center in Belgium is supporting the screening of the above four animations at this Anima Film Festival.

우리 애니메이션 3편, 브뤼셀 애니메이션 영화제 ‘아니마(ANIMA)’ 경쟁 부문 후보로 선정
우리 애니메이션 작품 3편이 ‘브뤼셀 국제 애니메이션 영화제 아니마(ANIMA)’에서 경쟁 부문 후보로 선정됐다.
현재 ‘벨기에(Belgium, België)’에서 개최 중인 제43회 브뤼셀 국제 애니메이션 영화제 아니마(ANIMA, the Brussels International Animation Film Festival, ‘애니마’라고 발음하기도 함)에서 상영 중인 우리 애니메이션 작품은 모두 4편이며, 이중 3편이 ‘경쟁 부문 후보(Official selection in competition)’로 선정된 것이다.
주벨기에 한국문화원은 26일(현지시간) 이종훈 감독의 ‘건축가 A(Architect A)‘와 정유미 감독의 ‘파도(The Waves)‘가 이 영화제의 ‘국제 전문 단편 영화(International Professional Short Films)’ 부문에 경쟁 후보로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.
아니마 홈페이지에 따르면, 현재 이 부문에 선정된 애니메이션은 모두 26편이다.
그리고 이와 더불어 전승배 감독의 ‘배터리 마미(Battery Mommy)‘도 국제 어린이 단편 영화(International Short Films for A Young Audience)’ 부문에 경쟁 후보로 선정된 것으로 조사됐다.
현재 이 부문에 선정된 애니메이션은 총 17편이다.
주벨기에 한국문화원은 ‘만약 이종훈 감독과 정유미 감독 작품 중 하나가 최우수 작품으로 선정된다면, 그 작품은 자동으로 내년 오스카 영화제 국제단편 애니메이션 부문의 후보가 될 수 있다’고 설명했다.
참고로 나머지 1편의 애니메이션은 ‘국제 어린이 단편 영화’ 부문에 출품된 허정인 감독의 ‘보물(Treasure)’이다.
현재 벨기에 브뤼셀에서 개최 중인 아니마 영화제는 이달 23일부터 다음 달 3일까지 개최될 예정이며, 주벨기에 한국문화원은 이번 아니마 영화제에 위 네 편의 애니메이션 상영회를 지원하고 있다.
